Ecumenical and InterfaithHartford Seminary has a number of interfaith programs and workshops, including how and why to promote interfaith understanding in congregations. Building on the formal agreement between The Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, churches and people in the Diocese of Connecticut and the ELCA, New England Synod, work together. In the northwest corner of the state, Christ Church, Canaan; All Saints', Cornwall; and Trinity, Milton have a close relationship with St. Peter's ELCA, Cornwall. The pastor of St. Peter's and the recently retired vicar of Christ Church wrote a book together named Called To Common Mission. The Episcopal Church is also in full communion with the Moravian Church, Northern and Southern Provinces. Christ Church, Greenwich has long had a close relationship with its neighbor, Temple Shalom. It includes pulpit exchanges and some shared adult study groups.Holy Spirit, West Haven, works with its Islamic community neighbor, and have planted a garden together and met for social events.The youth groups of some parishes in the Diocese are ecumenical; others take part in ecumenical and/or interfaith activities on occasion.
