Annual Convention

 

The Diocese of Connecticut meets in a business session once a year. The 227th Convention will be held October 21-22 at the Hartford Marriott in Farmington, CT.

Hotel reservations were offered at a reduced rate in early September.

Call to Convention Letter was mailed in late February from the Secretary of Convention to parish rectors and clerks for 2011 Annual Diocesan Convention.

RESOLUTIONS: Click here for info about submitting resolutions to Convention. These were due by Sept.6, 2011  

NOMINATIONS/ELECTIONS: Elections are held at every Convention. General  Convention deputies are elected once every three years,  two years prior to the succeeding General Convention ( 2013 for 2015; 2016 for 2018, etc.) Two representatives to Province One Synod, one clergy and one laity, are also elected in those years.  Click here for general info about Standing Committee members, General Convention deputies, Provincial Synod representatives.

Nomination forms.Click here for clergy nominees. Click here for lay nominees. Forms need original signatures so must be printed and mailed or hand-delivered. The new form can be completed online before printing out for signatures and mailing. Nominations were due by Sept. 6, 2011. Return a digital photo separately; details on form.

LAY DELEGATES: Lay delegates must be elected (or re-elected) at the parish annual meeting. Lay Delegate Certification form must be signed by the parish clerk and is due (address provided) by June 3, 2011. One lay delegate per parish. Two lay delegates if parish has more than 200 communicants in good standing. Same number of alternates (substitutes) as delegates. Numbers based on prior year's parochial report data. Click here for form.
